The Three Coffins is a love story for hopeless alcoholics who can’t find a way to change. When a lost soul is given a second chance in the underworld, he discovers that even in death, temptation is impossible to resist.
Written by P M Buchan and illustrated by Phillip Marsden, The Three Coffins is a tender-hearted romance for the doomed and irredeemable.
Originally appearing in the DIY black-and-white photocopied comix anthology Blackout issue four in 2008, The Three Coffins was later reprinted in the much more professional (and disgusting) BLACKOUT, with a colourist bringing a new lease of life to the undead.
“It’s beautiful and obscene and glorious and depraved, and will damage the minds of anyone who reads it. But y’know, in a good way.”– Jamie Smart (Bunny vs Monkey)
“Satan, killer clowns, necrophilia, lechery, insobriety, cannibalism, sex dolls, murder; this is what you love, and all this and more in full colour can be found in this nasty little book brought to you by P M Buchan with the help of some of his sick collaborators, including yours truly. Support independent comics, celebrate perversity!” – Joe Whiteford (Harley Poe)
Praise for BLACKOUT & The Three Coffins
"This is disgusting, awful, warped, perverted, offensive stuff. Be warned - it's also very funny. If you like that sort of thing, dive in!" – Nick Abadzis (Hugo Tate)
"The Three Coffins is a tale of the problem with hell looking a little too heavenly to be true. It plays out in a nice, twisty old way, complete with great little visual gags… Oh, that is so not going to end well." – Richard Bruton (Forbidden Planet International, former British Comic Awards judge)
